A tiger was found dead in the Bhadrá Wildlife Sanctuary’s tiger reserve, specifically in the Lakkavalli range’s forest area,
The discovery was made by patrolling staff members on Thursday morning. The deceased tiger, a female estimated to be around 7 years old, reportedly died after a fierce fight with another tiger, as evidenced by multiple injury marks on its body. NR Pura government veterinarian Shivakumar, along with doctors from Shivamogga Veterinary College, conducted a post-mortem examination. They collected body parts and blood samples, which will be sent to a higher-level laboratory for further analysis to ascertain the exact cause of death.
Officials check the carcass for any metal or bullet fragments and carried out a thorough examination. In accordance with Tiger Conservation Authority guidelines, the tiger’s carcass was cremated.
The post-mortem was attended by forest officials, Honorary Wildlife Warden Veeresh G, Wild care foundation Madhu Mooguthihalli, former Shivamogga district wildlife warden Vinayak, local panchayat representatives, as well as representatives from non-governmental organizations and staff members.
