In a remarkable operation, the Forest Department successfully captured a 7-year-old male leopard that had been terrorizing residents in HD Kote in Mysuru. This marks the third leopard capture in the same month, and notably, all three were trapped in the same location.

The leopard, responsible for killing domestic animals and spreading fear among locals, fell into a trap set by the Forest Department on Tuesday night. The department had strategically placed a bait, utilizing a dog as prey, to lure the leopard into the cage.

The capture took place near the Housing Board layout in Guntamal, on the outskirts of HD Kote. Interestingly, this is the same location where two other leopards were caught earlier. Local farmers had urged the authorities to take action, reporting sightings of four to five leopards in the area.

Responding promptly to the concerns, the Forest Department relocated the captured leopard to a safer habitat, ensuring public safety and preventing further human-leopard conflicts.

The leopard capture drew significant attention, with a large crowd gathering to catch a glimpse of the majestic animal. The Forest Department’s timely intervention has alleviated concerns and ensured the well-being of both humans and wildlife in the region. The department’s swift action demonstrates their commitment to maintaining harmony between humans and wildlife.
