Shivamogga: A 15-year-old male wild Indian Gaur died in an accident on Friday on the Kalmane-Kammaradi road near Ramakrishnapur, Thirthahalli. The animal was later shifted to the Megaravalli Range office, where it breathed its last with severe injuries. It was bleeding profusely due to serious injuries to its head and legs.
Eyewitnesses observed this and recorded a video. They also informed the forest department. Forest officials arrived at the scene the next day, on Saturday, and shifted the animal. It died due to a lack of timely treatment. The forest department registered an FIR.
Megaravalli RFO Hemagiri informed that they are searching for the vehicle that caused the accident. The dead gaur was burnt with the permission of the court on Saturday.
