ಭದ್ರಾ ಅಭಯಾರಣ್ಯ ಹುಲಿ ಮೀಸಲು ವ್ಯಾಪ್ತಿ ಲಕ್ಕವಳ್ಳಿ ವಲಯ, ಅಲ್ದಾರ ವಿಭಾಗದ ಬೈರಾಪುರ ಹಿನ್ನೀರಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಆನೆ ಕಳೇಬರ ಸೆ.14ರಂದು ದೊರೆತಿತ್ತು. ಆನೆ ತಲೆಬುರುಡೆ ಮೇಲೆ ಗುಂಡು ಹೊಡೆದ ರೀತಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ರಂಧ್ರ ಕಂಡಿದ್ದು ಇದರ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ಸ್ಥಳೀಯ ಪರಿಸರ ಆಸಕ್ತರು ಅನುಮಾನ ವ್ಯಕ್ತಪಡಿಸಿ, ಭದ್ರಾ ಅಭಯಾರಣ್ಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಅವ್ಯಾಹತವಾಗಿರುವ ಕಳ್ಳಬೇಟೆ ಕೃತ್ಯ ಎಂದು ದೂರಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ಈ ಸಂಬಂಧ ಹಿರಿಯ ಅಧಿಕಾರಿಗಳು ಆಘಾತ ವ್ಯಕ್ತಪಡಿಸೋದು ಬಿಟ್ಟು ಮುಚ್ಚಿ ಹಾಕುವ ಪ್ರಯತ್ನ ಮಾಡುತ್ತಿದ್ದಾರೆಂದು ದೂರಲಾಗಿದೆ.
ಆನೆ ಮೃತಪಟ್ಟು ಸುಮಾರು ತಿಂಗಳು ಕಳೆದಿದೆ. ಆಸ್ತಿ ಪಂಚರ ಸ್ಥಳೀಯ ಮೀನುಗಾರಿಗೆ ಕಂಡುಬಂದು ಇಲಾಖೆಗೆ ಮಾಹಿತಿ ನೀಡಲಾಗಿದೆ. ಅರಣ್ಯ ಇಲಾಖೆ ಹಿರಿಯ ಅಧಿಕಾರಿಗಳು ಸದ್ದುಗದ್ದಲ ಇಲ್ಲದಂತೆ ಆನೆಯ ಆಸ್ತಿಯನ್ನು ಇಲಾಖೆ ವೈದ್ಯಾಧಿಕಾರಿಯ ಬಳಿ ತಪಾಸಣೆ ಮಾಡಿಸಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ಆನೆ ಹಣೆ ಭಾಗಕ್ಕೆ ಗುಂಡು ಹೊಡೆದಿರುವ ಗುರುತು ಎರಡು ಇಂಚು ರಂಧ್ರದಂತೆ ಫೊಟೋಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಕಾಣುತ್ತಿದೆ.
ದಂತಕ್ಕಾಗಿ ಹತ್ಯೆ ಮಾಡಿರುವ ಅನುಮಾನ ಕಾಡಿದೆ. ಈ ಅನುಮಾನಕ್ಕೆ ಮತ್ತೊಂದು ಕಾರಣ ಆನೆ ಸತ್ತ ಜಾಗದಲ್ಲಿ ಯಾವುದೇ ದಂತಗಳು ಕಂಡು ಬಂದಿಲ್ಲ. ಹೀಗೆ ಮಾಯವಾದ ದಂತಗಳು ದಂತಚೋರರ ಪಾಲಾಗಿರಬಹುದು ಎನ್ನಲಾಗಿದೆ.
ರಾತ್ರಿ ವೇಳೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಭದ್ರಾ ಹಿನ್ನೀರಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಬೋಟ್ ಗಳ ಮುಖಾಂತರ ಅಭಯಾರಣ್ಯಕ್ಕೆ ಕಳ್ಳಸಾಗಣೆ ಮಾಡಲು ಬರುತ್ತಾರೆಂಬ ಅನುಮಾನ ಇದೆ. ಭದ್ರಾ ಹಿನ್ನೀರಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಆನೆಗಳ ಹಿಂಡು ವ್ಯಾಪಕವಾಗಿವಾಗಿದ್ದು ದಂತಚೋರರು ಇಲ್ಲವೇ ಇಲ್ಲ ಎಂಬ ವಾದ ಮಾಡಲು ಇಲಾಖೆ ಅಧಿಕಾರಿಗಳೇ ಸಿದ್ಧರಿಲ್ಲ.
ಈ ಹಿಂದೆ ಸಾಕಷ್ಟು ಪ್ರಕರಣಗಳು ಇದಕ್ಕೆ ಸಾಕ್ಷಿಯಾಗಿವೆ. ಮುತ್ತೋಡಿ ಅರಣ್ಯ ಜಾಗ್ರ ಗ್ರಾಮ ಸಮೀಪ ಆನೆ ಕೊಂದು ದಂತ ಅಪಹರಿಸಲಾಗಿತ್ತು. ಲಕ್ಕವಳ್ಳಿ ಹಿನ್ನೀರಿನಲ್ಲಿ, ದಂತಕ್ಕಾಗಿ ಆನೆಯನ್ನು ಹತ್ಯೆ ಮಾಡಿರುವ ಸಂಬಂಧ ಹಿರಿಯ ಅರಣ್ಯಾಧಿಕಾರಿಗಳ ತನಿಖೆ ನೆಡಸಬೇಕಿತ್ತು ಆದರೆ ಯಾವುದೇ ತನಿಖೆ ಮಾಡದೇ ಪ್ರಕರಣ ಮುಚ್ಚಿಹಾಕುವ ಪ್ರಯತ್ನ ಮಾಡಿದ್ದಾರೆ, ಇದಿಷ್ಟೂ ಪರಿಸರಾಸಕ್ತರ ವಾದ.
ಈ ಪ್ರಕರಣ ಕುರಿತು ಮಾತನಾಡಿದ ಡಿಸಿಎಫ್ ಯಶ್ ಪಾಲ್ ಕ್ಷೀರಸಾಗರ್, ಈಗಾಗಲೇ ಪ್ರಕರಣ ದಾಖಲಿಸಿಕೊಳ್ಳಲಾಗಿದೆ. ಹೆಚ್ಚಿನ ಪರಿಶೀಲನೆಗೆ ಕಳೇಬರಹವನ್ನ ಚೆನ್ನೈ ಸಂಶೋಧನಾ ಕೇಂದ್ರಕ್ಕೆ ಕಳಿಸಲಾಗಿದೆ ಎನ್ನುತ್ತಾರೆ. ಪರಿಸರಾಸಕ್ತರ ಆರೋಪಗಳನ್ನ ಅಲ್ಲಗಳೆದಿರುವ ಅಧಿಕಾರಿ ತಾವೆಂದೂ ಅಂತಿಮ ನಿರ್ಣಯಕ್ಕೆ ಬಂದಿಲ್ಲ. ಎಲ್ಲಾ ಆಯಾಮದಲ್ಲೂ ಪರಿಶೀಲನೆ ನಡೆಸಲಾಗುತ್ತಿದೆ ಎನ್ನುತ್ತಾರೆ.

Chikkamagaluru: A shocking incident of suspected poaching has emerged in the Bhadra Wildlife Sanctuary, where the carcass of an elephant was found with a bullet wound on its forehead.
On September 14, local fishermen alerted the forest department to the elephant’s remains in the Lakkaavalli range, Aldara division, near the Bairapura backwaters.
Environmentalists have raised concerns that the elephant was killed for its tusks, citing the absence of tusks at the scene. The forest officials’ alleged attempts to downplay the incident have sparked widespread outrage.
The post-mortem examination revealed a two-inch deep bullet wound on the elephant’s forehead, further fueling poaching suspicions. Critics argue that the forest department’s failure to conduct a thorough investigation is alarming.
This incident highlights the rampant poaching in the Bhadra Wildlife Sanctuary. Previous instances, including the killing of an elephant and theft of its tusks in Muttodi forest, have raised concerns.
Deputy Conservator of Forests (DCF) Yash Pal Kshirsagar confirmed that a case has been registered and the carcass sent to Chennai for further investigation. However, environmentalists claim that officials are attempting to cover up the incident.
