An FIR has been filed against BBMP, forest officials, including the Range Forest Officer (RFO), Assistant Conservator of Forests (ACF), Deputy Conservator of Forests (DFO), and others, at the Hanumanthanagar police station. The case pertains to the death of Akshay, who was hit by a falling tree branch in Bengaluru.

The FIR was lodged based on a complaint by Akshay’s brother, Benak Raj, under Section 105 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) Act, which deals with causing death or grievous hurt.

According to the complaint, Akshay was riding his scooter on June 15, 2025, when a branch from a 50-60 year old tree fell on his head, causing severe injuries. Despite receiving treatment, Akshay succumbed to his injuries on June 19, 2025.

The complaint alleges that local residents had previously informed the BBMP forest officials about the tree’s condition, but they showed blatant negligence and irresponsibility. The officials’ utter failure to take action despite knowing the tree’s potential danger allegedly led to Akshay’s tragic death.

Benak Raj has demanded that action be taken against the accused officials for their gross dereliction of duty.
