Shivamoga MP BY Raghavendra has announced that preparations are underway for the Agumbe Ghat Tunnel Detailed Project Report (DPR). The Director General of the Ministry of Land Transport, Dharmendra Sarangi, has instructed National Highways officials to submit a feasibility report on constructing a tunnel at Agumbe Ghat as part of the Malpe-Theerthahalli National Highway-169A quadruple project.
In a meeting with Sarangi, Raghavendra discussed an alternative 4-lane tunnel road from Megaravalli to Someshwar, and permission has been granted to prepare the DPR. The possibilities of project implementation will also be reported
Other discussed projects include:
- Sigandur Bridge and Shivamogga-Chitradurga National Highway: Speedy completion of four-lane road works
- Sagar town: Four-lane road works
- Shivamogga-Anandapura: Four-lane road construction
- Nellisara-Thirthahalli: Four-lane road construction
- Byndur (Udupi)-Nagodi ( Hosanagar) Two-lane road construction
- Hosur and Talaguppa: Railway flyover works ( ROBs)
The officer has instructed officials to obtain DPR approval within the stipulated timeline for the Agumbe road, Anandpur-Talaguppa road, Sagar-Marakutika road, and pending Byndur-Ranebennuru road work.
