Lost in the Woods: 11 Medical Students Rescued After Trekking Mishap

As the sun dipped below the horizon, a group of medical students realized they were lost in the dense forest. Despite an early morning start, a wrong turn had led them deep into the woods. The group of five boys and six girls was exhausted, hungry, and frightened.

In a daring rescue operation, 11 medical students from Basaveshwara Medical College in Chitradurga were rescued after getting lost while trekking in the dense forests of Ballalarayana Durga fort in Mudigere taluk, Chikkamagaluru district.

The group had embarked on a trekking adventure but took a wrong turn, finding themselves disoriented and stranded. A search party comprising police personnel, locals, and forest department staff eventually spotted them.

Under the leadership of Baluru station PSI Dilip Kumar, the search team, which included snake expert Areef, searched the forest for six hours before locating the stranded students. The rescue operation continued until 2 am on Tuesday, with the team working tirelessly to ensure the students’ safe return.

The relieved students expressed their gratitude to the police and locals for their bravery and quick thinking. This incident highlights the importance of meticulous planning and preparation when venturing into the wilderness.
