A tragic incident occurred in Seeturu village, NR Pura taluk, Chikkamagaluru district, when a farmer was killed in an elephant attack on Saturday afternoon. Umesh (56) was working in his field when the elephant attacked him, causing fatal injuries.
The elephants had been wreaking havoc in the area for days, damaging crops in several villages Kesave, Bintravalli, Kuduregundi. Despite repeated complaints, the forest department failed to capture the elephants, leading to the loss of a human life. Locals are outraged over the incident and are demanding action against the forest department.
Police and forest officials from NR Pura have visited the spot to investigate the incident.
