In Bommalapura village, Gundlupete taluk, Chamarajanagar district, a bizarre incident unfolded. Villagers confined forest officials from Bandipur National Park inside a tiger trap (bone) after they failed to capture a tiger spotted near the forest fringe.
Residents had been complaining about tiger threats and had urged Bandipur authorities to catch the animal. The forest department had set up the trap as per villagers’ demands, but the tiger evaded it. Frustrated by this failure, villagers blocked forest staff who visited the village inside the very cage meant for the tiger.
Trapped and distressed, the officials pleaded with villagers for release. Local authorities eventually intervened to calm the situation and free the forest staff from their uncomfortable predicament.
